What are good, tasty, or semi-tasty foods that can take the place of meat?
Thanks
Patrick

`Depends on how you define good and tasty. I'm one of those people who likes lentils, garbanzos, blackeye peas, regular peas, refried beans, edamame... if you like legumes, legumes are full of protein. So are most nuts.

Things like soy products and tempeh products can be very delicious and even taste just like meat, but it is also important you keep yourself full of veggies and grains as a source of protein just because eating too much soy can be fattning and too much can be bad for your health. Also it is very common for a woman's menstral cycle to get messed up when the intake of soy is too high. Soy is a great source of protein and yummy just watch the amounts you eat. Try beans and grain also greens have protein too. I love qinoa it's a good source of protein. Hope this helps!! |

`Beans are good, if you like them, even though I don't. Nuts are also good, but they can be very fattening. A lot of vegetables have some protein, but you won't get enough just eating veggies.
Tofu and tempeh, if prepared right, can be delicious, but like someone else said, don't overdo it, because too much soy can be bad for you.
Also, be sure you're taking supplements for things like iron and omega 3, which most people get from meat.

I highly reccomend the brand of cereal known as Total which I'm sure you've seen advertised. I eat a bowl of it with soy milk for breakfast every day along with a tall glass of orange juice and I'm ready to take on the day. It really is very nutritious. It doesn't exactly taste good but if you are a committed vegan, like myself, or vegetarian who is willing to make some small sacrifices in order to help out our animal friends then it is well worth eating because it gives you a lot of the nutrients you need.

I love protein shakes. At least 2 of my 5 daily meals is a protein shake made with soy milk.
